Who is the new White House Chief Of Staff General John Kelly and what to expect from him.

Today, Friday July 28th, Reince Preibus was replaced as White House Chief of Staff by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Retired 4 Star General John F. Kelly. If you want to stop leaks then who better to bring in to run a tight ship than a retired 4 star Marine General who happens to also be the Department of Homeland Security Secretary? “John Kelly is one of our great stars” President Trump said at a speech to law enforcement in New York, today and then reiterated that quote when asked, after landing back in Washington. So who is John Kelly and what does it mean for North Korea who launched A ICBM into the Pacific Ocean today?

In July, a source close to General Kelly told me that he was hesitant to take the DHS Secretary job, given the political climate but felt it was a duty he needed to do for his country which backs up two things he said in a June interview with CNN “True to form, my wife Karen said, ‘Well, if the Kelly family is nothing else, we’re a family of service to the nation. And if they think they need you, then you’ve got to do it,'”. In addition to  “What I never saw on the military side was the level of toxic kind of politics that are associated with what I do now,” and yet he still took the job, which speaks to his continued service to his country.

John Kelly

General John F. kelly, in Iraq

  • Retired 4 Star Marine Corps General from Brighton, Massachusetts grew up in a middle class family.
  • Served as Department of Homeland Security Secretary in the Trump Administration.
  • Served in a variety of Commander roles in Falujah and Anbar Province, Iraq from 2002-2009.
  • Joined the Pentagon as a senior military assistant to the Secretary of Defense in 2011 and then as Commander of U.S. Southern Command from 2012-2017.
  • Gold Star father who lost his son, 2nd Lt. Robert Kelly, to a roadside bomb in Sangin, located in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in 2010.
  • Respected by many, a straight shooter who is loyal to his country first and therefore Trump but won’t be afraid to disagree and give his opinion. Trump respects that.
  • Will set a new tone bringing much needed discipline and leadership into the White House. It is being reported the chain of command will run through him, which is no easy task with big personalities in the White House such as son in-law and Advisor Jared Kushner, Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, and new Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci all under one roof.
  • Immigration: border crossings dropped 70% during his time as DHS Secretary.
  • Will be most effective giving advice to President Trump on Foreign Policy along the lines of the Middle East. Not only with Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan but also Iran, in particular, possibly revisiting President Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal; which Trump has mentioned in the past, and how to effectively deal with North Korea’s missile program, in addition to keeping Russia and Putin in-check. Another tough task.
  • Domestically, with the Republican health care bill seemingly dead next up on Trump’s agenda will be tax cuts and tax reform.

Reince Preibus

Who is former White House Chief of Staff Reince Prebus and why is he headed out the door?

  • Former Head of the RNC and labeled as part of the “establishment”.
  • May have had his own motives and in the least, couldn’t stop the constant leaks coming out of the White House.
  • Couldn’t pass any legislative bills from the President’s agenda even though he had many connections to members of the House and Senate on Capitol Hill.
  • Had public battles with Steve Bannon and Anthony Scaramucci

North Korea

In April, General Kelly stated North Korea could be nuclear armed with a missile capable of hitting the United State in the next three years. He said ”the minute North Korea gets a missile that could reach the United States and put a weapon on that missile, a nuclear weapon, the instant that happens, this country is at grave risk.”

As a Gold star father, John Kelly understands the price of war I believe that will play a big factor in his opinion on what to do with North Korea. North Korea has strategically placed artillery along the DMZ line to deter military action from South Korea and the United States, which has worked up to this point. Both South Korea and the United States understand the potential disastrous consequences that could take place in Seoul, South Korea but at the same time the longer this goes, the closer North Korea is to having a ICBM that could reach the United States. Once that happens, it’s only a matter of time until they can fit a nuclear warhead on one of those missiles. It’s a tough spot to be in, with not many options to choose from but if anyone is up to handle the task, its John F. Kelly.

Three Questions heading into week 1 for the Patriots

untitledjimmyg

  1. How will Jimmy Garoppolo look in his first regular season game?

The short answer to this question is nobody knows the answer and I’m not going to pretend I do. He didn’t look that impressive during the preseason but that doesn’t tell us much. Questions have surrounded Garoppolo ever since being by the Patriots out of Eastern Illinois. Could he make the jump from an FCS-school to the NFL and is he the guy that will eventually take over for Tom Brady, were some of the most asked questions. The Cardinals defense was 2nd in the league in takeaways, behind Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson and Tyron Matheiu so he has to be aware of those guys all game. . No matter what Garoppolo does in these four games he’s not going to start over Brady in week 5 vs Cleveland but these games will determine his future value. The most likely scenario if Garopollo performs well, is to use him as a chip to leverage another team to give up draft picks by either attempting to trade him for him in the offseason or something I haven’t heard any one talk about; trading him after week 4 but before November 1st to a team that thinks they’re in playoff contention this this season to a team that thinks they’re one quarterback away from making a run in the playoffs.

  1. Will Martellus Bennett step up without Rob Gronkowski?

Martellus Bennett has the talent to be one of the best tight ends in the league. I didn’t believe the rumors that he could have been on the cutting block at the end of the preseason. Traded from the Bears during the offseason, Bennett is a Pro Bowl tight end who stands 6’6, 275 pounds and has the power to run block, the quickness to pass block, and the size & agility to beat a lighter defensive back on a pass route. He only played in eleven games last year coming off a career year the year before racking up 916 yards on 90 receptions and 6 touchdowns. I think Garoppolo will look to Bennett often to help advance the offense down the field tonight and I think Patriots fans are going to be impressed with his athleticism.

  1. Can the offensive line keep Chandler Jones in check?

During the off season the patriots traded Pro Bowl defensive end Chandler Jones to the Craidnals  for former 1st round draft pick and often injured guard Jonathan Cooper, a 2nd round pick who they turned  into a third-rounder guard Joe Thuney and a fourth-rounder, receiver Malcolm Mitchell who had a good preseason before injuring his elbow and who I believe is going to be a deep threat for the Patriots once he is healthy again. Back to Jones and the offensive line, speculation around the league was that he was traded because of his 2015 incident with synthetic marijuana; but I believe that wasn’t the only reason. Jones will become a free agent at the end of this year and even though the Patriots have the most salary cap space in the NFL. They also have a lot of big names entering the last year of their contracts and may not be able to pay everyone which is a topic I will dive into in another blog. I expect Jones to have a big game because he has something to prove tonight on the field and throughout the season being in a contract year. Jones will face Pats tackles Cameron Flemming and Marcus Cannon, who’s filling in for injured tackle Sebastian Vollmer. These are former teammates he’s gone up against for years in practice and I think Jones gets to the quarterback at least once tonight.

Update: Wr Malcom Mitchell is active for tonight’s game

Harley Brown’s getting my vote for President

“Okay, let me finish that story, After God told me I was going to be President, I went and got the Presidential Seal tattooed on my shoulder, my morale went from negative 5 hundred up.”
Those were the closing remarks made by Idaho Governor candidate Harley Brown. Only in Idaho will you see a grizzly looking fellow dressed head to toe in biker gear as President of The Bombers motorcycle club, standing at a public access podium running for Governor. He’s more anti PC America than Donald Trump and he’s came up with his own “Harlyisms” or jokes he’s created against all races and nationalities, “including bikers” according to Harley. As legend has it he asked God to let him go back to being a Batalion Commander but according to Mr. Brown God had bigger plans for him. Commander in Chief. The secret service would hate him. He’d be leaving the white house on his bike and head over to the pentagon or lighting up cigars in front of congress at the Capiral.

  1. “Take air superiority, roll in with you’re tanks, like troopers in lawsuits, Blitzkrieg” is Harleys response to taxes. People always complain after debates and say the moderators cut the candidates off before they could finish making their point and I see a prime example in this case with Harley Brown. Some people would argue it would be a good idea to blow up the tax code but most of those people mean it figuratively, however, Harley wants “to talk about the other realm we exist in” now That’s my kind of guy. This is the kind of man I’d like to have as a neighbor. At my summer house that is. Every few weeks when the burgers are grilling and the beer is flowing, Harley’s walking across the street with a case of Busch Light, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and the Presidential Seal tatted up on his shoulder debating and rambling on about politics.

Is it actually possible for Harley Brown to take this? I doubt it but after all this is Idaho we are talking about folks. The only way you will ever see me in Idaho is at Harley’s victory party celebration.

You heard it here 1st Harley Brown for President 2k16.
